The evening was the climax of a new curriculum unit for the entire sophomore class, in which every student read Ms. Gyasi’s novel, “Homegoing” this year as the result of an LEF grant, and was made possible through a collaboration with Lexington Community Education (LCE).

Lexington Education Foundation’s 22nd TRIVIA BEE was held on Nov. 9 at the Lexington High School, where 42 teams participated in the competition in the auditorium. The energy level this year was unprecedented.

Kid Triathletes Earn Dollars to Benefit Lexington's Schools

Sevent-four Lexington youth participated in the Kids Triathlon at MIT on Sunday, July 16. Lexington had the second largest team. After the race, the organizers held a post race party at the Bridge School playground, where those triathletes achieving three and four triathlons in a row were recognized and Lexington Educational Foundation (LEF) received a donation of $740.

The Newcomer Project: Mentoring and Peer Leadership at Fiske Elementary School

Newcomers enter our schools with rich culturaland linguistic experiences from their home countries, but they also bring anxiety and culture shock. As ELL teachers, we are responsible for these vulnerable students, but we also need the help of classroom teachers and other staff. At Lexington’s Fiske Elementary School, we are employing staff as mentors and students as peer leaders to help our newcomers transition into our school culture.

On June 10, over 500 adults joined LEF for their signature annual fundraising event. The night included international hors d’oeuvres and signature cocktails prepared by Neillio’s, a performance by Lexington Chamber Ensemble and LHS Jazz Ensemble and raffle baskets created by Lexington school families.
