Since the program’s inception in 2003, School Community Grants have awarded a total of $308,400 to the Lexington Public Schools. Here’s how each school used SCG in 2010-2011:

Support for school's Pro-Social Behavior initiative with Open Circle training for new staff. Purchase of books for enhancement of school-based professional development for pro-social behavior and literacy training. $2,500

Bridge

Purchase of books to support the school's Pro-Social Behavior iniative. Purchase of books for enhancement of school-based professional development for best practices in teaching writing. $2,500

Estabrook

Purchase of leveled literature to supplement collection in Professional Literacy Center. Support for school's pro-social behavior improvement initiative with Open Circle training for two teachers. (2/16/11)

Support for week-long artists-in-residence program with author Margie Burns Knight and illustrator Annie Sibley O'Brien. Their book, Africa is Not a Country, will provide the focus for a multi-disciplinary program. $2,500

Support for school's Pro-Social Behavior initiative with Open Circle training for new staff and development of workshops with renowned family and school life specialist Lynne Reeves Griffin. $2,500

Hastings

Support for school's Pro-Social Behavior initiative with Open Circle training for staff. Purchase of non-fiction science and social studies books as resources for differentiated learning instruction. $2,500
